One of our core areas of activity is offering SCA coffee courses. With regard to roasting course, we are authorised to issue the foundation, intermediate and professional level certification.

This coffee roasting course teaches you all you need to know about the roasting process: its cycle and different levels, roasting defects and all the changes that occur during the roasting process as well as the workspace management.

 

During the foundation level roasting course, you will learn about the roasting cycle and the foundations of the roasting process, incl. key defining factors in heating control. You will also get acquainted with the basics of how to dominate the principal sensorial aspects of different roasts coffee. After successfully taking the practical tests and final exam at this coffee academy, you’ll be issued a SCA Roasting Foundation certificate.

Para o nível intermédio For the intermediate level coffee roasting class, it is recommendable to have at least one year of practical experience in the field. During the class we shall address in more detail the following: different roasting profiles and how these will bring forward diverse set of flavours in the same coffee; physical/chemical changes that occur with coffee beans during the roasting process; defects of roasting and how to avoid them; management of your roasting space. After successfully taking the practical tests and final exam, you’ll be issued a SCA Roasting Intermediate certificate.

For professional level coffee certification course, it is obligatory to have obtained the intermediate level first. We will go profoundly into the principles of heat transfer in the roasting process (roast curve) and the physical, chemical and sensorial aspects of roasted (as well as green) coffee. The course also aims to enhance your skills in managing, planning and controlling the quality of the roasted coffee and creating a set of final products for clients from different market segments (incl. the calculation of associated costs). Requirements for SCA Roasting Professional certificate: complete the practical tests and a final exam.
